3 deal-breakers:

1) If anyone gives me an ultimatum regarding the relationship, it's done. I don't drink, smoke or do any types of drugs so any ultimatum regarding our relationship would fall under religion, family, financial and/or other.

So I, nor anyone, should compromise their life just to be with one person. Ultimatum's is a deal breaker for me.

2) We all know that cheating on someone is a deal breaker. I want things to be monogamous.

Kissing another guy is not a deal breaker with me, this always leads to discussions regarding the relationship.

Sucking another guy's dick or recieving head from another guy, that's a deal breaker. No second chances. I can't continue a relationship with self doubt about myself and the relationship I currently have if my trust for him is gone.

3) If someone tells me "i love you" and I don't feel the "love" in return. That's a deal breaker.

So I have been playing phone (more texts than actual calls) tag with a guy who lives in Florida, I live in Ohio. In a few months I will be moving back for good and he just seems to be a little too anxious. I am thinking he has just been single for a while and wants to hurry into another relationship. I like him but want to go slower and he is ready for a monogamous relationship.

My first thoughts is that you're seeking a reason to escape the possibility of a relationship between you and this guy but maybe/hopefully keeping the growing friendship intact so that you can enjoy other "male" options once you're "back for good".

But despite the fact that he's "been single for a while" or "wants to hurry into another relationship", the important question that you should ask yourself is... do you want a relationship with him? I'm not talking about a relationship with anyone... I mean do you want a relationship with this phone guy? Period.

Most situations involving someone moving from point A to point B usually has the person seeking the ideal of living free, ready to experience anything and everything.

I'm thinking that's what you want. Freedom... sexual freedom. Most want this.

Moving from point A to point B and directly into a relationship will most likely stop your chances at meeting a wider vast of people thus taking away what most people desire... the idea of "options".

If I was in your predicament I would tell the phone guy that I am seeking friendship always before relationship.

Friendships built over a phone [or through text messages] is still considered a simple acquaintance because you will always see and experience a different person once you meet them in person on a daily basis.

I would also tell him that we both should respect our feelings and interests. Your current interests have you seeking more contacts within your new community. If he is the friend you think he is, he should understand.

If he has reason(s) to believe that you were seeking a relationship with him then you need to set him completely straight before you arrive at his door step.

Since you're asking my opinion, I would not start a relationship immediatly after moving. Especially since you "want to go slower" which usually has endless meanings that many will, including myself, will attempt to answer on your behalf.

Find the answer as to why you want to go "slower" and you'll have your true answer to your question.

Is it him? Or is it you? If the problem is him, don't start a relationship. If the problem is you, don't start a relationship. If a problem doesn't exist and you actually love him through phone calls and text messages, then by all means start a lasting relationship. If love doesn't exist, don't start a relationship.
